Hazel Findlay - The Walls Within
Friday 7:30pm
Main auditorium
Description
In ‘rockstar’ climber Hazel Findlay's new show, she'll walk you through the biggest internal battles she's faced in her career and how she's overcome them. She'll take stories from her most difficult ascents and wild expeditions, such as her recent climbing trip to Greenland with Alex Honnold, to talk about the psychological 'walls within' that we all face, such as imposter syndrome, fear of failure, distraction and motivation.
This show is presented by Speakers From The Edge.
About Hazel Findlay
Hazel Findlay has been climbing for 27 of her 33 years, and started out trad climbing on the limestone sea cliffs of Pembrokeshire. In her youth she enjoyed competition climbing - she was the British junior champion six times - but at 16 decided to give it up to focus on climbing on rock, especially trad climbing which is her main passion. Hazel has been a full time climber for the last eight years, which has allowed her to travel all over the world climbing interesting pieces of rock.
Hazel was the first British woman to climb a trad route at E9, sport climb 8c and free El Capitan in Yosemite, which she has now done four times. She has put up first ascents in many countries around the world including big walls in Greenland. Hazel has also red pointed 9a (5.14d) sport and 8c+/E10 trad, loves all types of climbing from bouldering to alpine climbing and is especially interested in the mental challenge that climbing evokes.
